The Journey Inward Reveals New Frontiers | Sagittarius New Moon + Winter Solstice

Dec 19, 2025

Sagittarius is the archer.
Half horse, half human, bow drawn toward the horizon, aiming at new frontiers.

Traditionally, we imagine this symbol quite literally: distant lands, foreign cultures, adventure through movement and travel. Sagittarius seeks expansion. But expansion does not always require distance. Sometimes the frontier asks us to look closer rather than farther or even to look in the exact same places but using updated tools that reveal a whole new story.

This New Moon reminds us of that distinction.

While many are preparing to travel for the holidays, most journeys will lead back to familiar places: family homes, ancestral traditions, the hearths of childhood. Old ground. Historical ground. Places layered with memory. And yet, returning does not mean repeating. Sometimes the deepest adventure is seeing what we thought we already knew through new eyes. Or what if you experienced them through all of your felt senses? What new information arises?

Astrologically, this is reflected in an unusual geometry. This Sagittarius New Moon does not culminate in its typical opposition to Gemini, but instead makes a quincunx to Cancer, a 150-degree angle. Without diving too deeply into technicalities, this occurs because there are roughly twelve and one-third lunar cycles each year, not thirteen as is often claimed. In certain years, that extra third shifts the Moon’s relational pattern, bringing us into quincunx lunations rather than clean oppositions.

(If you want a deeper dive into this astrology, I highly recommend Gemini Brett’s latest podcast episode on Astrology Hub. It’s truly fascinating.)

A quincunx doesn’t offer clarity through contrast. It requires adjustment, recalibration, and full-body listening. It asks us to integrate what doesn’t easily speak the same language. The parts, people, and places we call foreign, weird, or alien. And that is precisely the work this New Moon is offering as Mercury is Sagittarius squares the Nodes. What if you look at what was once a mystery that led to your disillusionment from the wisdom of your senses rather than the criticisms of your mind? What do you "know" because you feel it in your full being?

The message is simple, even if the process is not: as you quest inward, you discover the whole world. Monsters, fears, and witches may not be all that you thought they were. What if these scapegoats were actually your helpers that you banished?

The most distant lands available now are not geographic. They are inward, into the terrain of the soul. When your lens is centered in compassion, grace, and forgiveness a new path is revealed that you couldn't access before.

What astrology has symbolized for thousands of years, modern consciousness research is beginning to describe in its language.

Recently, I’ve been immersed in scientific research on consciousness, and a recurring theme keeps emerging: reality itself may be fundamentally composed of light and each of us projects a path onto that light, creating a holographic reality we can "our life." The material world, how we once defined reality, may not be what is real after all. We don’t encounter a neutral world. We experience exactly what we need in order to meet our next stage of evolution, our next frontier.

As Pluto moves through Aquarius over the next two decades, we will go where we have never gone before as a collective. Paradoxically, we will meet many of the same daily experiences, yet filtered through radically new lenses of perception, a new reality will unfold. The questions will change, the interaction will evolve, the world as we know it will transform.

This idea stopped being theoretical for me when I began to notice it in my own life.

In my healing journey, I’ve seen how the exact same day, viewed from a mundane perspective, can completely transform as I transform. The frequency in which I approach my day alters what I notice, what I feel, and what becomes possible. My vibration shifts my interpretation of events and what is revealed or concealed to me.

Once I saw this in myself, I began to see it everywhere.

Have you ever looked at a friend’s life and felt as though it operates by entirely different rules than yours? As if reality itself responds to them differently?

You can change the pattern of your hologram. (That's what my Frequency Shifters program is all about.)

Mastering this has become the frontier I continue to explore. What if nothing changed except the story you tell about what happened? What if the external facts remained the same, but your authorship shifted? How would your trust in your inner guidance evolve? How might that change how you navigate, where you go next, and what you believe is possible?

If perception is the frontier Sagittarius is opening, then Capricorn asks the next question: what do we do with that awareness?

As this New Moon sits on the cusp of the Sun’s ingress into Capricorn at the Winter Solstice, we are invited into the work of radical responsibility. Not blame. Not punishment. Responsibility as response-ability. As authorship.

What is mine to change?
What is mine to surrender to the divine and unseen realms?

These questions will continue to clarify over the coming weeks as Saturn, ruler of Capricorn, and Neptune move through the final degrees of Pisces together. Discernment around responsibility restores authority to its rightful owner. It reveals where your power actually lives and how to use it.

At its most coherent, Capricorn builds the structures that allow for deep safety and belonging. Yet under patriarchy, authority was externalized. We were conditioned to look outside ourselves for “the grown-ups” to fix things for us, to victimize ourselves as perpetual children beneath punishing systems. Claiming authority became dangerous. It brought blame, shame, or exile.

But is that still true?

This is not about denying real harm or unjust systems. It’s about locating where your power still exists, even within constraint. Even when choices are limited, how you respond remains yours. Sometimes the only choice is whether to stay or to leave, how to hold yourself, or how to tell the story.

We are relearning how to become our own authority, moving safety from an external structure into an inner state we alone govern. Are you a safe space for yourself and all your inner children, or are you your own oppressor?

What if authority is really about author-ship?

What if nothing outside of you could steal your sense of security?

When responsibility is sourced from within, it does not confine. It liberates. Maturity frees us. When authority lives inside you, oppression loses its grip. If you have no authority over me, you cannot truly oppress me, no matter how hard you try.

This is Capricorn’s deeper desire for you: full coherence between your inner (Cancer) and outer landscapes, and within all the relationships (Aries + Libra) that build your world. The cardinal cross as a lived journey of self-realization at all levels of life and living.

Inner authority, however, is not claimed through thought alone. It is cultivated through practice, presence, and community over time.

May you have the courage to enter the new frontiers within. May old places reveal themselves through new eyes and shape shift in healing ways you could not have imagined. All you have to do is believe there is more waiting just around the bend. I promise you, darling, there is!

2026 marks a turning point. Let the old world go so you can step into an entirely new paradigm rooted in love.

And if you’re in the Kingston, NY area, I invite you to join me, Melissa officinalis, and Elana Kaufman for Pause | A Winter Solstice Celebration at The Bridge. An evening of tea ceremony, astrology, and sound healing from 4–6:30 pm on 12/20/25. A gentle initiation onto the inward path.
