How Astrology Became My Map Home
Mar 28, 2026
I used to think something was fundamentally wrong with me.
I hit every minority status there is—chronically ill, neurodivergent, first-generation American, Latinx, non-binary, queer—but here's the thing: all of these identities are invisible to most. I pass as "normal" until I don't. Until it comes out in conversation or through my choices, and suddenly I'm the outsider again.
No one could really clock me. Me neither.
It's a particular kind of psychological homelessness that kept me wandering around for decades trying to find my home. Too different for the majority spaces, not quite fitting perfectly into any of the minority groups either. Always explaining, always translating, and perpetually feeling like a disappointment. I was so caught up in managing everyone else's expectations and my fears of rejection that I got trapped living someone else's life, breaking my own heart in the process despite my best efforts to be real.
The world kept trying to flatten my story into simple terms: You have trauma. You need fixing. Here's what's wrong with you.
But life—and you and me—are so much more complicated than that.
When Everything Changed
Then astrology entered my life, and for the first time, something had no problem holding all of my complexity.
Not only did my birth chart name this experience of being unidentifiable, it dared to say there was a gift inside the pain. That this wasn't a cosmic mistake or punishment—it was part of my soul's plan for my ego to develop through.
I can't express the relief I felt, both somatically and emotionally, as I saw all of this reflected in my chart. My body relaxed for what felt like the first time in my life.
But astrology didn't stop there. It showed me the bigger story.
My chart revealed that I came into this life to disentangle my addiction to societal approval. That historically, I had sacrificed my authenticity to gain worldly power—and while that helped me survive, I needed to move beyond that pattern to access true power.
The power of knowing I'm enough, exactly as I am, especially when it wasn't confirmed by others or the standard status symbols we're conditioned to conflate with success.
Suddenly, my ambiguous identity wasn't a burden—it was brilliant design. How perfect to build a life where external validation is nearly impossible to get, forcing me to turn inward for confirmation?! My "otherness" wasn't keeping me from belonging; it was teaching me that the only belonging that matters comes from within.
This reframe changed everything. Life really does happen FOR you. Your exact identity REALLY IS the perfect vehicle for your liberation.
Life Tries to Flatten Us
We live in a world obsessed with simple stories and quick fixes:
- If you just have X, you'll be happy
- This one thing explains all your problems
- Fit into this box and you'll finally belong
But you know better. You've felt the stress of trying to squeeze yourself into generic narratives that leave no room for your full humanity.
Maybe you're the high achiever who's still searching for something more.
Maybe you're the helper who gives so much to others but struggles to receive.
Maybe you're the sensitive one who feels everything and has been told you're "too much" and "not enough" all at the same time.
Maybe you're successful on paper but feel unsatisfied like you're living someone else's life.
Your complexity isn't a problem—it's your superpower.
Moving From Stress to Coherence
When we try to fit into stories that aren't truly ours, we create internal stress. Our nervous system knows when we're abandoning ourselves to please others or meet expectations that don't align with our soul.
Moving out of that stress requires what the yoga lineages call heart-mind coherence—a way of understanding your life that allows all parts of you to breathe and have purpose. Where the internal battle between heart and mind dissolve into a single desire, when thy will is my will. Where you accept your desires and how you operate and build life with that knowing as center. Where your environment and day are the structure that support your flow. It was made for you.
Fundamentally accepting who you are and what you need to flourish and then saying no to everything else is the key to dissolving the kind of stress that drains our life force.
Astrology offers the framework to your coherence. It's a language that speaks to the totality of who you are:
- Your gifts AND your challenges
- Your human experience AND your soul's journey
- Your pain AND its purpose
- Your complexity AND its beauty
It never asks you to diminish any part of your experience. Instead, it shows you how everything—even the hard stuff—is part of your unique developmental journey. Not only that, it gives you the framework of how to get there. It is a map to your very personal experience of life satisfaction and peace.
Your Soul Left You a Map
Your birth chart is like a love letter your soul wrote to your human self before you arrived here to keep you on track. It's a map that reveals:
- Why you chose this particular life setup
- What you're here to learn and master
- How your challenges serve your growth
- Where your true power lies
- How to come home to yourself
When you can see the divine orchestration of your life—when you understand that even your struggles have purpose—everything shifts. Awe reinvigorates your daily journey, filling it with wonder and enchantment.
You stop trying to fix yourself and start honoring the wisdom of your path.
You stop abandoning yourself for approval and start sourcing validation from within.
You stop feeling like a broken puzzle piece and start seeing yourself as a complete masterpiece.
The Path Forward
This is the journey astrology has taken me on—from feeling fundamentally flawed to understanding my divine design. From seeking external approval to cultivating unshakeable self-worth. From viewing my struggles as evidence of my inadequacy to seeing them as proof of my soul's courage.
Your birth chart holds the same potential for you.
It's not about predicting your future or finding excuses for your past. It's about remembering who you truly are beneath all the conditioning and expectations. It's about coming home to yourself. (This is Homecoming Healing for a reason my friends.)
Because here's what I know for certain: You didn't come here to shrink yourself into someone else's idea of acceptable. You came here to be fully, authentically, unapologetically you.
Your chart knows this. Your soul remembers this.
The question is: Are you ready to remember, too?
If you're feeling called to explore your own birth chart and discover the story your soul left you, I'd love to support you on that journey. Sometimes all it takes is one conversation to shift everything.
